Public Transport – Effectivity of Costs and a Specific Case DescriptionOndřej PrchalActa Oeconomica Pragensia 2019, 27(3-4):78-84 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aop.629 Public transport is one of the driving forces of economic development; therefore, development and sustainability are required. In most cases, public transport operation is only possible with the help of public budgets, which in turn results in pressure from customers regarding efficiency. This article deals with the issue of public transport, especially in the Czech Republic, its sustainability and overall development. After an evaluation of the current situation for one specific case and possible future development, the author describes the basic survey conducted among passengers and outlines the possibilities for further development. The author made his basic observations and polled people who commute to work every day. In this case, the author attempts to show some basic connections and context. |
Approaches to Czech Passenger Railway Market LiberalisationZdeněk Tomeš, Monika JandováActa Oeconomica Pragensia 2016, 24(1):68-81 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aop.499 Competition on the Czech railway passenger market has been developing recently. It is possible to distinguish two types of competition - unregulated competition (competition on the market) and regulated competition (competition for the market). Competition on the market is present on the Prague-Ostrava route and competition for the market has been applied in a few public tenders for subsidised services. However, the substantial part of the Czech railway passenger market has remained closed and there is a question how to proceed with the competition development - whether to promote competition on the market or competition for the market. Based on European and modelling experience, there is an argument for more competition for the market. |
